Ahmed spent 2/3 of his saving on a used car and he spent ¼ of his remaining saving on a new carpet. If the carpet costs him Rs.250 then the amount spent by him on the car is:

Total Saving= x
Spent on Car=2/3(x)
Remaining Amount=X-2/3(x) =(3x-2X) / 3=X/3
Carpet= 1/4 of remaining amount
=1/4*X/3=X/12
Amount of Carpet=250
X/3=250
X=250*12=3000
Amount spent on Car=2/3(X)
2/3 (3000)=6000/3000=2000
The amount spend on car=2000
