تھرمل انرجی سے مراد حرارتی انرجی ہے ،تھرمل انرجی / حرارتی انرجی کوئلہ، لکڑی، ڈیزل، گیس وغیرہ استمعال کر کے پیدا کی جارہی ہے ۔پاکستان میں بجلی کی پیداوار کا زیادہ حصہ تھرمل پاور جنریشن سے حاصل ہوتا ہے۔پاکستان کی سروے رپورٹ نیپرا 2023-2024 کے مطابق پاکستان کی بجلی کا 63 فیصد تھرمل پاور جنریشن، 25 فیصد ہائیڈرو پاور جنریشن، 5.4 فیصد وِنڈ پاور جنریشن (ہوا کے ذریعہ بجلی پیدا کرنا) اور 6.6 فیصد نیو کلیئر پاور جنریشن سے حاصل ہوتا ہے۔
