شیر شاہ سُوری 1486میں انڈیا میں پیدا ہوئے اور 1545 میں انڈیا میں وفات پائی۔شیر شاہ سُوری کے آباؤ اجداد کا تعلق افغانستان سے تھا۔ شیر شاہ سُوری نےبھارت میں سُوری سلطنت کی بنیاد رکھی۔شیر شاہ سُوری نے دُنیا کی تاریخ میں پہلی بار 1540-1545 کے درمیان سکہ (کرنسی) ایجاد کی۔شیر شاہ سُوری نے 16 ویں صدی میں جی ٹی روڑ تعمیر کروایا۔ضلع جہلم میں واقع قلعہ روہتاس بھی شیر شاہ سوری نے 1542میں تعمیر کروایا۔شیر شاہ سُوری نے بہت زیادہ تعمیراتی کام کروائے اس لئے اِنہیں ہندوستان کا نپولین بھی کہا جاتا ہے۔
